Director: Carlos
Ferrer
Carlos Ferrer was born on July 16,1985 in New York City. Carlos
displayed a passion for art at a young age. A strong visual
learner, he created works of art through painting and spectacular
computer generated drawings. At the age of eleven, Carlos discovered
his love for filmmaking when his father allowed him to borrow
the family video camera. Over three years of making home movies
using his friends and family members as actors, Carlos demonstrated
an amazing ability to tell stories in a truly original manner.
In 1999, at the age of 14, Carlos was ready for a more challenging
project. Carlos co-wrote and directed Dreaming of You, a 30
minute romantic comedy about a high school nerd who finds his
life takes a turn for the better after a visit to a tarot card
reader.
A year later, influenced
by the tragic events that were taking place in schools such
as Columbine, he wrote, directed and edited Americas Nightmare,
a 4 ½ minute cinematic tour de force about the disturbing
subject of school shootings in America.
With each new project Carlos
sought to exceed his own expectations. Carlos began sitting
in on acting classes and put together a professional crew and
a cast of seasoned actors for his next film. At age 16, he directed
and filmed The Last Cappuccino, a 25 minute romantic drama about
love, selfishness, betrayal, and passion.
In July of 2002, just two weeks before his 17th birthday, he
met with the ultimate challenge of creating his first feature
film. By that time Carlos developing career was already
being followed by fans of his work and actors interested in
taking a part in his new projects. His production company Cgffilms
and producer Gil Ferrer managed to gather together a cast and
crew of a hundred. Cgffilms began production of Scallop Pond,
a 91 minute psychological thriller.
Details about the project can be found at the official web site
for the film at www.ScallopPond.com.
While working hard as a
high school junior preparing for his SATs, Carlos labored
for more than a year editing and working in collaboration with
the talented film composer David Majzlin. In November of 2003
the final cut of Scallop Pond was finally completed. Now Carlos
is hoping that a film festival will pick up Scallop Pond. He
is also seeking a distribution company to buy the distribution
rights for his film.
Carlos is presently applying to college while working on three
additional film projects to be completed over the next five
years. His new projects include the CAGE, a Psychological thriller,
The Garden, a mysterious romantic Fantasy Drama based on an
idea by Gil Ferrer to be written by Carlos Ferrer. Finally,
The Catalans a three hours epic film based on the true story
of Carlos Catalan grandparents and their adventures during
the Spanish civil war 1936-1939. The Catalans is currently being
written first as a novel by Sabrina Ferrer and will be later
adapted for the screen. The Catalans is to be shot on location
in Spain in 2006 in collaboration with Cgffilms and producer
as well as father Gil Ferrer.
